
Richard Freishtat
Dr. Richard Freishtat serves as Consulting Director of Education for The Advanced Med Academy. He is also Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at UC Berkeley, where he designs and delivers a full range of enrichment initiatives and consultation services to the 2000+ faculty across campus.
Dr. Freishtat holds a PhD in Education from Arizona State University, an MA in Rhetoric and Public Address, and a BA in Speech Communications from Pennsylvania State University. Across his 15+ years of teaching and consulting experience, he has helped more than 5,000 students at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels in course topics ranging from Oral Communication to Persuasion, and Interpersonal Communication to Small Group Communication. He has also published and presented across the globe on the topics of teaching, pedagogy, and innovation.
Dr. Freishtat provides consultative support and direction to the faculty with The Advanced Med Academy with regards to the design of their courses that will meet the highest educational quality and standards for online learning. He also provides the following:
1. Consulting with faculty on any questions or concerns of content delivery and provides consultative support and subject matter expertise on course design/delivery to student advisor as he performs course design creation and implementation/administration of course learning materials into learning management system.
2. Provides quality assurance oversight on the educational quality of all programs.
3. Co-develops course and programmatic student feedback assessments to evaluate the existing courses and identify areas for faculty to make improvements. (Assessments built into learning management system and administered by student advisor.
4. Makes recommendations to the Advanced Med Academy and its faculty on other sources and methods of evaluating the effectiveness of courses/programs. (e.g., peer review of course materials, alumni surveys)
